FROM INFORMATION PROCESSING TO CREATION OF REALITY
Andrey Busev, an attorney of the Practice of Antitrust Law, commented on the July decree of USA President Joe Biden "On the Development of Competition in the US Economy," which is essentially a set of recommendations for relevant departments regarding antitrust regulation.
The decree provides, inter alia:Strengthening antitrust controls, especially mergers and acquisitions.
- Conducting an investigation into the "bad mergers that previous administrations have neglected" - especially purchases by large companies of "young" competitors.
- Limitation of unfair competition. Small entrepreneurs suffer from the fact that marketplaces, which are both stores, know everything about their business and can put their own products in the best positions.
- Restoring the network neutrality rule, canceled by the Donald Trump administration, it prohibits telecom operators from reducing data transfer rates for certain providers and types of content.
- Limiting the practice in which companies agree not to outbid each other's employees in order to avoid wage increases.
It is especially important that investigations will be retroactive. Their most obvious goal will be Facebook, which absorbed Instagram with WhatsApp (not to mention Oculus). But the entire four largest technology companies have similar "skeletons in the closet" (Facebook, Amazon, Google, Apple)
According to Andrei Busev:... "a person, even in the" digital world "should be a qualified consumer and resist the imposed standards of behavior. And in this case, the role of antitrust regulation is to help in this person and society as a whole. "
